Big Sky is a contemporary holiday cottage sleeping 6 adults in the village of Camber, East Sussex, only 3 miles from Rye.

Big Sky is a seaside chic hidden gem only 5 minutes walk from the beach, nestled along a private track with a gated driveway and parking for 3 cars.

Finished to a very high standard, with a contemporary feel, this three bedroom, 2 bathrooms, open plan holiday cottage is a secret we are happy to share.

You enter the property into an open plan lounge, diner and kitchen, perfect for holiday cooking and entertaining. Bold interior colours, quirky treasures add character to the space and the focal point, the woodburner, is an added welcome for those cool Autumn evenings and lazy Sundays after a bracing winter walk on the beach.Fully equipped kitchen and separate utility area, making holiday catering a breeze.

There are three bedrooms, two king size beds, one with own ensuite shower room and one double bedroom opposite the family bathroom. All finished to a very high standard with quality bed linen and soft fluffy towels.

The enclosed garden is a beautiful surprise, landscaped with natural planting, shingle and decking and a fenced pond, a welcome retreat after a long day exploring the 1066 area.

There are two decked areas, one for alfresco dining and the other overlooking the stream that runs behind the property. There is a fire pit on the shingle garden for melting those marshmallows while sipping a cool drink and star gazing on a barmy evening.

Big Sky is a dog friendly and children friendly holiday cottage but guests must be aware of the pond and the stream behind, so never leave children unattended in the garden.

Neighbourhood

The Sussex village of Camber has much to offer, with its beautiful sandy beach which stretches for miles and safe bathing. The village has various small shops, a Post Office, two pubs, a wine bar and The Gallivant restaurant. A variety of activities can be enjoyed including kite surfing, kite buggying, surfing, land yachting, horse riding, fishing, as well as numerous other activities both on the beach and nearby, including the wildlife havens at Dungeness and Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. Water sports are taught at Rye Water Sports lake, which is only one mile away. The medieval town of Rye is about 3 miles away. There you can visit the Heritage Centre where you can watch the Town model's ' Sound and Light' show, which goes into detail about the history and the colourful past of Rye and it's inhabitants. Or amble around the independent boutiques or many antique shops in the Strand Quay. Enjoy the array of eateries, from restaurants, cafes and pubs. Rye has a full calendar of events happening throughout the year, so make sure to check 'whats on' with Visit 1066 Country and arrange a stay during one of the many festivities. We have two important Nature Reserves within easy reach of La Rye Vita, Dungeness and Rye Harbour, both great for exploring whatever the season. The seaside town of Hastings is a short drive away and it a good mix of traditional British Seaside with a contemporary flair, definitely worth a visit.

Transport

  • Good transports links available if visiting by train - from London you can get to Rye via Hastings or alternatively from Ashford International station.
  • If traveling from Europe via the Eurostar, then depart at Ashford International and get the connecting Marsh link train to bring you to Rye.
  • If driving from Europe, the village of Camber is about 45 minutes from the ferries at Dover or the Euro Tunnel at Folkestone.
  • Gatwick airport - approximately 50 miles from the property.
  • There is an hourly bus service from the village that travels to Rye & Folkestone.
  • Taxis available from Rye Railway station.
  • Car free cycle and footpath all the way to Rye from the village about 3 miles.
