Daisy Cottage is a quiet, romantic retreat for two, only ten minutes walk from the centre of Rye, East Sussex.

Formerly an 1800’s dairy building, converted into a studio apartment giving it a contemporary feel yet remaining sympathetic to its heritage. Daisy Cottage is one of two holiday apartment’s, each with their own entrance off the hallway, if you wish to book both, talk to us about a 10% discount. The apartment has a bright, airy, open plan living area all on one level, with high vaulted ceiling, exposed timbers and a stall divider from the milking parlour days to separate the sleeping area, making the apartment fairly unique. The kitchen space has a 4 ring gas hob and electric oven, an under counter fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave, toaster and kettle. A dining table overlooking the courtyard garden, the perfect spot for your morning coffee or an evening meal. The lounge area has a comfy sofa, with scatter cushions and cosy throw, a large Freeview TV, DVD player if required and a selection of books to browse. The bedroom area has a super king bed, with quality linen, throw and cushions and another TV, in case you fancy a lazy morning. There is a large table and chair, suitable for using as a desk if you should need to bring work away with you and a digital radio with bluetooth capabilities, should you wish to listen to your own music. Two large built in wardrobes for all your holiday clothes. The large ensuite bathroom has a bath with shower attachment, WC, hand basin, shaver point and heated towel rail, the perfect pampering suite whilst on holiday.There is a pea shingle courtyard garden, with table and seating and established shrubs, a tranquil retreat after a day exploring 1066 country and a pleasant spot for an evening tipple. There is parking for one vehicle to the side of the property if you come by car. The railway station is in the town centre and less than 1 mile from the apartment. Daisy benefits from private access onto the 1066 trail for walkers and is a pleasant way to walk into Rye if you fancy it. A welcome basket of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, and a large packet of crisps, await your arrival.

The town centre is less than a mile from the property and is renowned for its historical past, medieval fortifications and fine period architecture. As well as its charm and history, the town has a vibrant, independent range of shops, coffee and tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. A very busy calendar of events throughout the year, including Scallop week, Rye Jazz festival, Rye Arts and Music festival and the wonderful Rye bonfire spectacular.

A good start to any stay in Rye, is a visit to the town’s Heritage Centre. Here you can watch the Town Model’s ‘Sound and Light’ show, which retells Rye’s colourful, historic past. Then take a trip upstairs and play the ‘Old Penny Pier Machines’ and giggle with the ‘Laughing Sailor’ or have your fortune told by ‘Sidney Knows’! If antiques interest you, then visit the Strand Quay where you can wander amongst the small shops and bag yourself a bargain.

For the days when the weather is a little below par, why not visit our Kino cinema, all the latest films and even on occasions, live screening performances of Opera and Ballet from the London theatres. For the sporty among you, there is the Sports centre with pool.

The stunning sandy beach at Camber Sands is three miles away, with its safe bathing and miles of dunes the perfect beach whatever the weather. A short drive is Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, where you can walk along the sea wall and out on to the marshes to enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna. Or visit Derek Jarman's garden at Dungeness and enjoy a light bite at the Dungeness Fish Shack, you won't be disappointed.

For those among you who enjoy your gardens, we can highly recommend a visit to Great Dixter, at Northiam, Sissinghurst and Parham Place, all have stunning gardens and are beautiful whatever the season.

The towns of Hastings and Ashford are around a thirty minute drive away and here you can get a mainline train to London, if you wish to explore the capital for a day. Likewise from Ashford you can take a day trip to France on the Eurostar or pick up the channel tunnel from Folkestone, approximately a 45 minute drive.

  • If traveling from Europe via the Eurostar, then depart at Ashford International and get the connecting Marsh link train to bring you to Rye.
  • If driving from Europe, the town of Rye is about 45 minutes from the ferries at Dover or the Euro Tunnel at Folkestone.
  • Gatwick airport - approximately 50 miles from the property.
  • There are regular buses that travel to Tenterden, Hastings, Folkestone and Camber from Rye.
