  • Grey Owl Cabin is named after Archibald Stansfeld Belaney a man ahead of his time and a conservationist who the town of Hastings remembers with a plaque at the entrance to Hastings Country Park, at Fairlight. Grey Owl Cabin is situated in its own woodland glade, with snowdrops, bluebells and other natural plants, carpeting the grounds in Spring and Summer. Sit on the verandah and listen to the bird song or wave to the friendly cows grazing in the neighbouring field and breathe in the tranquility and at night spot the stars between the trees as no light pollution here. There is parking for several cars through the gate and then follow the winding path to the front door. Enter the cabin into the open plan living space, with a dining area, lounge seating and fully equipped kitchen. There are two double bedrooms and a modern shower room. Travel cot and high chair can be provided on request but please provide your own bedding for the travel cot. A DVD library is provided for those cosy evenings in, Wifi to plan your holiday itinerary and many other home comforts to make this a home from home. Bringing your bicycles away with you, there is a secure shed behind the property to keep them safe during your stay. Grey Owl Cabin is the perfect holiday cabin, with stunning walks on your doorstep but close enough to the towns of Rye and Hastings if you wish to soak up more of the location.

The village of Three Oaks, has its own railway station and public house and is in a beautiful rural location with 1066 Country Walks on your doorstep. 

Rye is is about six miles away and enjoys a colourful medieval past, with plenty to visit and pretty shops and tea rooms to enjoy.

The beaches of Winchelsea Beach, Pett Level and Camber Sands, are all within a 15 - 25 minute drive. Whether you wish to explore rock pools, when the tide is out, at Pett Level or walk for miles on the sandy beach of Camber Sands, there is lots to explore from your Three Oaks base.

Only 6 miles away by car, is the traditional seaside resort of Hastings. Here you can walk among the fishing boats or for a more cultural experience, visit the new Hastings Contemporary Gallery, set amongst the old fishing huts.

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is just a short drive away. The Nature Reserve lies within a triangle of land extending south from Rye, past Rye Harbour to the sea, westward to Winchelsea Beach and northwards along the River Brede. Renowned for its natural native habitat and as a haven for shore birds, a large part of the nature reserve is a ''Site of Special Scientific Interest.''

Hastings Country Park is about 6.5 miles away and covers 267 hectares of ancient woodland, heathland and grassland, along with three miles of dramatic cliffs and coastline. These can be enjoyed whatever the season.

Castles, Country Houses, NT Gardens are all in abundance in this part of the south east, you are spoilt for choice. A trip to Battle Abbey, Bodiam Castle, Great Dixter and Bateman's are all worthy of a visit.

  • Good transports links available if visiting by train - from London you can get to Three Oaks via Rye or Hastings or alternatively from Ashford International station
  • If traveling from Europe via the Eurostar, then depart at Ashford International and get the connecting Marsh link train to bring you to Rye, then on to Tree Oaks
  • If driving from Europe, the village of Three Oaks is about 45 minutes from the ferries at Dover or the Euro Tunnel at Folkestone
  • Gatwick airport - approximately 65 miles from the property
