About the Accommodation

Strand House is a beautiful, comfortable family holiday home only a short walk from the popular Camber Sands beach.

Located in the award winning, ‘Whitesands’ a fisherman’s style village development, perfectly situated for enjoying the stunning, sandy beach at Camber and exploring the surrounding towns and villages.

The property can sleep up to eight guests and one well behaved dog and has a fully enclosed garden, for all to enjoy. You enter the property into a small hallway, where there is space for dirty shoes, buckets and spades. To the right is the dining area with a large dining table and plenty of seating for all the family and a well stocked dresser packed with family games. There is a DAB radio with Bluetooth and CD and a selection of books for you to enjoy. To the left of the hallway is the large lounge with comfy sofas, Smart TV and Blu-ray. The double aspect room, means it is bright and airy and there are French doors leading directly out on to the enclosed garden. The kitchen is spacious and very well equipped with a dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, coffee machine, microwave, electric oven and hob and Dab radio. There is a small bistro table and chairs for a quiet morning coffee and French doors directly out onto the garden, perfect for the evenings, when you choose to BBQ. Just off the kitchen is a small utility room with a washing machine and space for drying a little washing. There is a downstairs WC in the hallway.

Stairs lead up to the four bedrooms, one single bedroom, one triple room with bunk beds and a single bed, one super-king zip-and-link bedroom (can be configured as a twin on request) and a master bedroom with king size four poster bed and ensuite shower room and WC. There is a family bathroom with shower over bath and WC. The garden can be accessed from the lounge and kitchen and is fully enclosed with table and chairs and a fire pit/BBQ.

The garage has been turned into a games room with a full size table tennis table and dart board. It is the perfect place to store sandy beach equipment, kite surfing kit or bicycles should you choose to bring them with you and a great space to let off steam of those non beach days. We are happy to allow one well behaved dog or two on request but they must not go upstairs. There is off-road parking for one car and ample free roadside parking for additional cars.

Neighbourhood

The Sussex village of Camber has much to offer, with its beautiful sandy beach which stretches for miles and safe bathing.

The village has various small shops, a Post Office, two pubs, two cafes, a wine bar and The Gallivant restaurant. A variety of activities can be enjoyed including kite surfing, kite buggying, surfing, land yachting, horse riding, fishing, as well as numerous other activities both on the beach and nearby, including the wildlife havens at Dungeness and Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.Water sports are taught at Rye Water Sports lake, which is only one mile away.

The medieval town of Rye is about 3 miles away. There you can visit the Heritage Centre where you can watch the Town model's ' Sound and Light' show, which goes into detail about the history and the colourful past of Rye and it's inhabitants. Or amble around the independent boutiques or many antique shops in the Strand Quay. Enjoy the array of eateries, from restaurants, cafes and pubs.

Rye has a full calendar of events happening throughout the year, so make sure to check 'whats on' with Visit 1066 Country and arrange a stay during one of the many festivities. We have two important Nature Reserves within easy reach of Strand House, Dungeness and Rye Harbour, both great for exploring whatever the season.

The seaside town of Hastings is a short drive away and it a good mix of traditional British Seaside with a contemporary flair, definitely worth a visit.

Transport

  • Good transports links available if visiting by train - from London you can get to Rye via Hastings or alternatively from Ashford International station.
  • If traveling from Europe via the Eurostar, then depart at Ashford International and get the connecting Marsh link train to bring you to Rye.
  • If driving from Europe, the village of Camber is about 45 minutes from the ferries at Dover or the Euro Tunnel at Folkestone.
  • Gatwick airport - approximately 50 miles from the property.
  • There is an hourly bus service from the village that travels to Rye & Folkestone.
  • Taxis available from Rye Railway station.
  • Car free cycle and footpath all the way to Rye from the village about 3 miles.
