5 East Street is a beautifully renovated family and dog-friendly holiday cottage in the heart of Rye's citadel sleeping four.

The self-catering holiday cottage has been lovingly restored with original exposed floorboards and painted with warm muted tones, creating a calming relaxed atmosphere.

Wood burners in the lounge and dining room mean you can enjoy a cosy fire while resting in front of the Smart TV or over a leisurely family dinner, especially enjoyable in the cooler months.

The property has a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and all the standard mod cons.

Off the kitchen is a small shower room with a separate shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.

The property can sleep up to four guests in two bedrooms with an opulent ensuite bathroom.

The front bedroom is configured as a super king but can be made up as a twin room if requested before check-in.

The rear bedroom with an ensuite bathroom is a double.

The ensuite bathroom with roll-a-top bath, hand basin and WC is the perfect holiday pamper spot after a hard day exploring the area.

There is a courtyard garden with outdoor seating and a table, a lovely spot for morning coffee or an evening tipple.

We do allow one small/medium size dog for an additional fee.

Neighbourhood


The ideal location of 5 East Street means you are perfectly located to enjoy all Rye has to offer.

Rye is a picturesque medieval town on the Sussex/Kent border., steeped in history. Fabulous restaurants, pubs, cafes, independent shops and places of interest all within minutes of the property.

We always highly recommend a visit to Rye Heritage Centre to get your bearings and learn about the town and its past. Watch the town's, 'Sound and Light Show' and develop a good understanding of the town's history and inhabitants. For light entertainment, visit the 'Old Penny Pier Exhibition' and watch or play the old automated machines.

Rye and Dungeness Nature Reserves are close by and worth a visit if you enjoy local wildlife and walking.

You are spoilt for choices if wishing to visit a beach, Camber sands is only 3 miles away and for shingle beaches you have Winchelsea beach and Pett Level all within a 10 minute drive.

The seaside town of Hastings is around a thirty minute drive away and here you can get main line trains to London, if you wish to explore the capital for a day.

If you fancy a day trip to the continent , the Eurostar can be picked up from St Pancreas station and trains to Paris, Lille and Brugge are available. Alternatively, the ferries run from Dover, just 45 minutes away or the Channel Tunnel from Folkestone, a 45 minute drive.

There is always something happening, Scallop Festival in February, the Jazz Festival in August, the Maritime Festival in August, the Music and Art Festival in September, the Wild Boar Festival in October, the Rye bonfire in November, a torch-lit procession and spectacular firework display and Rye Christmas festival in December. So much to do and see, you will need to visit more than once!

Transport

  • Good transports links available if visiting by train - from London you can get to Rye via Hastings or alternatively from Ashford International station.
  • If traveling from Europe via the Eurostar, then depart at Ashford International and get the connecting Marsh link train to bring you to Rye.
  • If driving from Europe, the town of Rye is about 45 minutes from the ferries at Dover or the Euro Tunnel at Folkestone.
  • Gatwick airport - approximately 50 miles from the property.
  • There are regular buses that travel to Tenterden, Hastings, Folkestone and Camber from Rye.
  • Taxis available from Rye Railway station.
  • Easy to explore Rye on foot.
  • Plenty of car parks available or free street parking, details provided upon booking or before if requested.
